Christie's CP2000 Digital DLP Cinema™ ProjectorChristie’s history has been marked by a long list of technological and creative breakthroughs. With over 80,000 installations worldwide, Christie projection and display solutions serve a wide range of requirements and applications including boardrooms, command and control room centers, houses of worship, classrooms, broadcasting centers, cinemas, large entertainment venues, conference centers, simulators and 3D/VR imaging.

75 Years of Firsts
We were the first to convert film projectors to Xenon arc lamp technology and the first to combine lamphouse and power supply, developing the present-day Xenon console system. We were ahead of our time when we introduced the first monochrome CRT data projection system in 1979, and in 1983, brought to market the first CRT-based single lens color data/graphics projection system and variable scanning with auto lock. In 1994, we pioneered the first 30-71 kHz data/graphics projection system specially designed for large screen display of ultra-high resolution CAD/CAM workstations, and the first affordable high brightness 1000 ANSI lumens LCD projector.

Putting Digital Technology To Work Early On
In 1995, Electrohome Projection Systems (acquired by Christie in 1999) formed a technology alliance with Texas Instruments (TI) to evaluate TI’s Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) technology for use in its projection display systems designed for multimedia, large-screen, professional and other display markets. Within a year, Christie introduced the world’s first 3-chip DLP™ SVGA projector that delivered 1300 ANSI lumens. Less than four years later, Christie introduced the world’s first DLP Cinema™ projector delivering 13,000 ANSI lumens – an astounding ten-fold increase in light output. By the turn of the century, we also were the first to manufacture a 3-chip DLP™ projector designed for 24/7 mission critical, command and control room operations.

Positioned For Now and Into The Future
As we entered the new millennium, Christie continued to play a leading role in AV products, networking and services with many firsts and awards. Whether we were the first DLP Cinema™ manufacturer to be involved with the release of the Star Wars’ Trilogy from production to post production to exhibition, to the first purpose-built 3-chip DLP™ simulation projector combining high resolution, high contrast and edge-blending, Christie defined expectations.
