Christie and partner E/T/C helped Cosmo AV implement the majestic show for the city’s Major Events department during this summer’s Bordeaux Wine Festival. The “Homage” sound & light show, conducted in partnership with Ateliers Lumiere for the sound part, will use seven Christie video projectors for three performances, on June 27, 28 and 29, of a scale and quality never before seen in France.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bordeaux Wine Festival and the first anniversary of Bordeaux’s inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the city will pay a magical tribute to the famous people who wrote the region’s wine history. Among various events, three performances of a huge show, designed by Cosmo AV in partnership with Ateliers Lumiere for the sound part and E/T/C for the video equipment, will be given on June 27, 28 and 29. At 10:30 pm, lights and images will be projected for half an hour onto the 18th century stone facades of the Place de la Bourse. Turned into a 4000m2, 205m-wide screen, the Palais Gabriel will take the audience on a journey through nature, land, wine-growing, art and excellence in the Bordeaux area.
“E/T/C is the undisputed world leader in large-scale video projection, and greatly increased its power when it started a shift toward digital technology three years ago,” said Dominique Denis, Rental staging Sales Manager for Christie France. “Christie will help them meet the technical challenges of such a project, in order to offer the audience the best images in the best possible conditions. Together, we wish to demonstrate that our technique is a fully-fledged art.”
To enable such a technical feat – the largest digital video projection in France ever – E/T/C will use four Christie Roadie 25K video projectors and three Christie Roadster S+20K projectors, driven by their Onlyview™ multimedia control platform. These seven video-data projectors deliver a combined 160,000 ANSI lumens with 12 million pixel resolution, six times higher than professional high definition digital video.
“We are proud to have been selected by the Major Events department of the City of Bordeaux to implement this show, unprecedented in the history of projection in France,” said Patrice Bouqueniaux, sales manager for E/T/C. “We will be delivering a turnkey show with the help of Cosmo AV, Ateliers Lumiere and Christie’s equipment. Christie has been supporting all our projects for many years. We have been committed to highlighting historical and cultural heritage for over 20 years, that’s why we want to collaborate with partners that have recognised expertise and technology.”
Set up along the left bank of the Garonne between the Pont de Pierre and the Bourse Maritime, this major wine tourism event expects at least 350,000 French and foreign visitors.
