Global Televisions’s “The Morning Show”

Setting the stage for great morning television
After being out of the morning television market for almost three years, Global Television decided to return to it in 2011, with “The Morning Show”. In the face of stiff competition, studios have to be clever and compelling to get their share of morning viewers. “The Morning Show” producers knew they would need to create a set that would enhance the morning hosts’ discussions and draw in
viewers.

The set of “The Morning Show” is at the street level of bustling Bloor Street in downtown Toronto. Windows fill the set with light on sunny mornings and let passersby look in on the show. “The Morning Show” needed a backdrop that could compete with this busy, bright street view and keep viewers’ attention. A 10-wide-by-4-high Christie® MicroTiles® array fit the bill.

Christie MicroTiles combine both DLP® projection and Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology to produce brighter images and a wider color palette than conventional LCD or plasma displays. Christie MicroTiles’ color reproduction capability is 115 percent of the NTSC color gamut. These tiles display pure, saturated, accurate colors, including rich, deep blacks. Christie MicroTiles maintain color depth, contrast and high brightness at 3200K color temperature without glare, even in the high-ambient light of a broadcast set. With 70x more pixels than the most popular 4mm surface-mount display LEDs, Christie MicroTiles’ ultra-high resolution is ideal for high-definition TV.
