“The Colbert Report” is a thoroughly over-the-top, satirical take on American neoconservative TV talk show punditry that puts a huge visual emphasis on all things Red, White and Blue.
So when the U.S.-based show’s producers and technical partners started looking for ways to both upgrade and turn the visual volume to high on the award-winning show’s set, Christie MicroTiles technology caught their collective eyes.
Just a matter of weeks after the groundbreaking new display technology was formally launched to the AV marketplace, a shipment of the MicroTiles were stacked, connected and turned on as the show started its 2010 season. The Colbert set was the first large commercial installation for Christie’s ground-breaking MicroTiles, which were formally launched in December, 2009.
The redesigned Colbert set has 41 Christie MicroTiles – four vertical columns with stacks of seven MicroTiles each along the backdrop, and three horizontal displays, in 1x4, 1x5 and 1x4 arrays, beneath the host’s desk.
