VeinViewer Vision uses harmless near-infrared and LED light technology to project a digital image of superficial patient vasculature directly onto the surface of the skin.

VeinViewer Vision uses harmless near-infrared and LED light technology to project a digital image of superficial patient vasculature directly onto the surface of the skin.  This innovative vascular access tool enables clinicians to see vessels up to 10mm deep and potentially find more options for access than by traditional methods alone.

The path to improving patient outcomes…

VeinViewer not only helps the clinician find an accessible vein, but also helps them assess the patient to determine the best option for access.

Pre and Post-Access Benefits Seen directly on the Skin’s Surface:

  • Visualize more vessels not typically found through traditional methods
  • Locate valves and bifurcations
  • Check the patency of the IV by visualizing the flushing of IV fluids
  • Recognize a potential infiltration by visualizing blood escaping into surrounding tissue

By assessing the patient fully with VeinViewer combined with traditional technique, the clinician increases the chance for a successfully placed IV and potentially avoids the risks associated with an infiltration or extravasation or placement of a higher acuity line. This may mean less pain for the patient and potentially faster recovery.

Study Data:

  • 2.4 – the average number of penetrations to successful place and IV catheter*
  • 1 to 14 – the range of the number of penetrations*
  • $32 – the total operational cost for IV placement*
  • 90% - number of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) that result from a CVC*
  • $30,000-70,000 – cost to treat a CRBSI
  • Up to 22 days – average increase in length of stay due to CRBSI
