BEIJING, China - (April 14, 2017) - Christie® is proud to announce that its visual solutions are used for a mesmerizing virtual flight ride at a new 3D dome theater located at Badaling, the site of the most visited section of the Great Wall of China, in the outskirts of urban Beijing.
Known as the “Dreams of the Great Wall 3D Dome Theater,” it was developed by Beijing-based SanXian Culture Holdings Co., Ltd with the objective of integrating cultural tourism and entertainment with state-of-the-art projection, audio, and motion technologies to provide an extraordinary experience for visitors exploring the Great Wall of China.
The theater, touted as the first Great Wall-themed 3D dome in the world, features a 180-degree dome measuring 18 meters in diameter. The visuals are powered by multi-award-winning Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP® projectors delivering bright and lifelike images in 6K resolution. Coupled with realistic surround sound and six-axis motion seats, patrons can expect a highly immersive sensory experience as they enjoy a breathtaking flight across China to explore the origins and sights of the Great Wall - one of the most famous UNESCO world heritage sites.
Ten Boxer 4K30 projectors, each boasting 30,000 center lumens, were installed around the theater to ensure maximum effect. Christie’s trusted partner, Wincomn Technology, undertook the crucial role of design, systems integration, installation and commissioning of the projection system at this highly-anticipated venue.
“The end-user had very high expectations of the projection system and our task was to create a high quality 3D dome theater featuring bright and colorful visuals by Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors to complement realistic audio and motion effects,” said Tony Chen, General Manager, Wincomn Technology. “Our design and engineering teams completed the project in six months and were meticulous in ensuring that the high standards were met. We are honored to play a role in the completion of the world’s first 3D dome theater with motion seats, and are pleased that the Boxer 4K30s had performed admirably throughout the installation and commissioning phase.”
The Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors were selected for their high brightness, 4K resolution, omnidirectional deployment capabilities and reliability - important attributes the end-user valued in delivering an engaging visual spectacle. Coupled with other strong features such as Christie TruLife™ processing for stunning color reproduction and image quality, as well as single-phase power, built-in warping and blending, the Boxer 4K30 is the preferred choice for delivering an unprecedented user experience time and again.
“Our heartiest congratulations to our longstanding partner Wincomn Technology on the completion of yet another major project using our flagship Boxer 4K30 projectors that produce the brightest and most stunning color reproduction and image quality,” said Jason Pei, Deputy General Manager, Christie China. “We’re delighted that the end-user is satisfied with the end results and this is a clear illustration of the Boxer 4K30’s undisputed performance and reliability.”
Lin Yu, Vice President, Christie Asia Pacific, commented, “Christie is very honored to have played a significant role in making the ‘Dreams of the Great Wall’ 3D Dome Theater the hottest new attraction at Badaling, which has drawn visitors from all over the world to enjoy an immersive experience in its high-tech 3D dome theatre. I applaud Wincomn Technology for delivering yet another outstanding project, and garnering numerous accolades from the AV industry in China for a job well done.”
Since its official opening late last year, the “Dreams of the Great Wall 3D Dome Theater” has garnered much critical acclaim for its high quality presentation and immersive experience. In recognition of the efforts and professionalism displayed in the completion of this milestone project, renowned audio-visual media InfoAV China awarded Wincomn Technology with the coveted “Best AV Project of the Year” award during its annual awards ceremony held in Shenzhen last December.
