Christie Empowers The Denmark Pavilion With 360-Degree Immersive Oceanic Projection at Yeosu World Expo 2012

YEOSU, Korea – (June 27, 2012) – Christie® has transformed the Denmark Pavilion at the Yeosu World Expo 2012 into a showcase of Danish sea and coasts with a 360-degree immersive oceanic projection using the powerful Christie DWU670-E 1-chip DLP® projector.

Named the Denmark Horizon, the pavilion allows visitors to experience Danish coastal life and the nation’s love of water. Occupying an area of 1,000 square meters, the pavilion anticipates welcoming 800,000 visitors.

“Today, Denmark has successfully developed a sustainable and competitive society tapping on our water and wind resources. We will share with the world our values and know-how in building a green nation through political, technological and infrastructural initiatives of green growth, sustainable energy sources, transportation modes and other creative solutions to contemporary problems,” said Stine L. Guldmann, deputy commissioner of Denmark Pavilion.

“The installation of our pavilion was initially challenged by a teething issue of lighting for the 360-degree projection at the horizon room but Christie’s professional team managed to resolve it with two additional projectors installed behind the pillars. The success of our collaboration with Christie can be traced back to the Shanghai World Expo 2010 when we heightened our nation’s brand. We are pleased to engage Christie again for this Yeosu event and are impressed with Christie’s competence to consistently deliver products and services of high quality to achieve our objectives of making our pavilion fun and creative.”

The centerpiece of the pavilion is a circular horizon room where visitors are treated to a 360-degree projection of the Danish sea and coast. Using eight front-projected and two rear-projected Christie DWU670-E projectors along with a 360-degree audio system, the Christie projectors show a typical day in Danish life filled with fun and activities, underwater scenes, nature, tourist attractions, and people. The images merge with a shiny floor in the horizon room that simulates a water reflection, mirroring the images and visitors.

“We are honored to be associated with the Denmark Pavilion again at the Yeosu World Expo 2012 following our successful collaboration during the Shanghai World Expo 2010,” said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “The Christie DWU670-E projector is especially suitable for events such as the World Expo since its dust-sealed, filter-free design prevents dust and dirt from affecting the system – ensuring that image quality is maintained and maintenance costs are low.”
