BEIJING, China – (August 22, 2012) – Christie® is showcasing a wide range of innovative cinema projection solutions at Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV) Aug. 22-26. A technology preview of Christie Solaria® One, a digital cinema projection system for screen sizes of less than 30 feet, will lead the way. There will also be demonstrations of the Christie SKA-3D™ audio/video processor, Christie® Integrated Media Block and High Frame Rate (HFR) content, seamlessly projected by Christie Solaria® technology.
“The recent years have witnessed the fast-moving transition of cinemas from the traditional 35mm film to digital projection. Christie is honored to play a pivotal role in this transition with more than 33,000 digital cinema projectors deployed worldwide. In China, we have a remarkable deployment of more than 4,000 digital cinema projectors to date,” commented Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific.
Christie’s success in digital cinema projection is endorsed by the China Pavilion, which deployed two Christie CP2220 projectors in its theater at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. The theater brought its theme to life in an animated film about how a girl uses technology to help tackle serious pollution under the sea and rescues a Chinese white dolphin. China Pavilion conveyed the message of ocean protection to more than 4,000 visitors daily during the 93-day event that ended August 12.
Lin continued, “To keep up with the evolution of cinemas, Christie is always innovating its product line to stay at the forefront of cinema projection technology. Today, we are pleased to bring our technical know-how to the Chinese movie market by showcasing the next frontier in cinema technology and solutions at BIRTV.”
At BIRTV 2012, visitors can catch a sneak preview of Christie Solaria® One, a single digital cinema projection system. Complete with a lens, custom-designed Xenon lamp, and a Christie Integrated Media Block (IMB), Christie Solaria® One is the most reliable, DCI-compliant digital cinema projectors available. Its user-friendly Screen Management Software (SMS) also allows for easy operation and maintenance.
The Christie® SKA-3D™ digital cinema processor is also showcased. Christie SKA-3D delivers flawless audio performance and 2D/3D image playback from virtually any content source on any brand of projector with separate L/R eye dual DVI inputs. The ‘all-in-one’ cinema processor ends equipment rack clutter by combining the multiple units typically found in a projection booth – an audio processor, digital crossovers, video scaler, 3D decoders, video cross conversion and more – into a single, lightweight and compact box.
Featuring full support for SENSIO® Hi-Fi 3D and RealD Format, the new Christie SKA-3D seamlessly switches between multiple 2D/3D alternative video content sources – including pre-show advertising servers, Blu-ray players, Sony PlayStation®, set-top boxes, personal computers and satellite feeds – facilitating new revenue streams for digital cinema owners through available content.
Another live demonstration is the High Frame Rate (HFR) technology demonstration using a standard Christie Solaria® Series digital cinema projector equipped with the Christie® IMB, an integrated media block solution that seamlessly converts and delivers content within a secure environment to all Christie’s 2K and 4K, DCI-compliant Solaria® Series 2 projectors.
The HFR demonstration is accomplished using the Christie CP2210 digital cinema projector. Built for long-term reliability, the Christie CP2210 Digital Cinema projector is the industry’s most compact DCI compliant projector – weighing less than 100 pounds.
Completing its BIRTV 2012 platform, Christie is showing the Christie CP4230, a DCI-compliant 4K digital cinema projector that presents 3D and alternative content using Brilliant3D™ technology, the award winning Christie® MicroTiles®, and Christie’s range of high performance Xenon lamps designed for digital cinema projectors.
