CYPRESS, CA – (February 26, 2009) – Christie, a global leader in visual solutions for entertainment, business and industry, was selected by Kerasotes Theatres to convert 35 screens to 3D-enabled Christie digital cinema projection systems ahead of the eagerly anticipated Walt Disney Pictures’ “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.” Kerasotes Theatres jumped on the installation fast track with the purchase of Christie CP2000-ZX digital cinema projectors with Brilliant3D™, turning to Christie to help bring fully-operational systems online almost daily in the weeks leading to the movie’s premiere, February 27.
Coming to the big screen in spectacular Disney Digital 3D™, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” follows the wildly popular musical trio through a high-energy rockumentary that combines excerpts from their “Burning Up” concert tour with behind-the-scenes footage, new songs, swarming fans, and a lot of Jonas Brothers-style humor. Like other exhibitors around the country, Kerasotes is already handling a surge in advance ticket sales and foresees sell-out crowds. In addition, with a wide range of original 3D features scheduled for release through 2009, the theatres are confident that their 3D systems will continue to draw record audiences for years to come.
Christie enjoys a stellar reputation in the industry and is the undisputed leader in digital cinema because they fully understand the needs of the exhibitors and know how to deliver quality products in the fastest timetable,” said Dean Kerasotes, president and chief operating officer of Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres. He and his brother Tony, who is chairman and CEO, will be honored as the "ShoWesters of the Year" at the 2009 ShoWest Convention, the exhibition industry’s most prestigious annual function. “We made the right decision in bringing Christie onboard to help us convert to 3D. The speed with which we’ve been able to bring the systems online is a tribute to Christie’s commitment to first-rate customer service and support.
Fred Walraven, director of technical services at Kerasotes, remarked, “Christie’s full 2K-resolution triple flash projectors are everything they said they would be. High brightness is critical to a satisfying 3D experience, and the light output on the Christie projectors is excellent. On 52’ wide screens, for example, the Christie CP2000-ZX projector with the CDXL30SD bulb reaches 4.5fL in 3D mode – the brightest in the industry – and this is without the light doublers. With the assistance of their technical services staff, we got most of the 35 projectors up and running to premier Walt Disney Studios’ Jonas Brothers 3D concert movie."
Craig Sholder, vice-president of Entertainment Solutions at Christie, observed, “Christie Brilliant3D with triple flash technology is the latest in a series of enhancements to the world’s most popular Christie CP2000 series of digital cinema projectors and sets the new standard in 3D. With audiences willing to pay premium ticket prices and studies showing increased sales at the concession stand, 3D is also one of the best value propositions for theatres.
He added, “We look forward to working with Kerasotes Theatres as it continues to convert to the latest generation of digital cinema technology. We have the right solution for every size screen and the ability to resolve every installation challenge at the fastest timetable because we bring 80 years of experience working with exhibitors, anticipating and meeting their needs.
The industry’s first technological breakthrough for 3D, Christie Brilliant3D is available on the world’s brightest 2K DLP Cinema® projectors – the Christie CP2000-SB and Christie CP2000-XB. Brilliant3D is also available on the Christie CP2000-ZX and the Christie CP2000-M compact digital cinema projector, which is based on the .98” DMD chip. Christie offers a full range of zoom lenses that facilitate convenient and cost-effective, single lens solution for 2D and 3D content regardless of format that help to keep operating costs down.
