Press Release

Christie High Performance Projection Systems Power Displays at I/ITSEC '09

I/ITSEC/Orlando, FL – (November 30, 2009) – Christie®, a leader in simulation projection and visualization solutions, is partnering with a host of industry leaders to showcase the latest in military training technology at this year’s Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) at Orlando, Florida’s Orange County Convention Center. Christie is providing its innovative and award-winning projector, the Christie Matrix StIM™, and other Matrix Series projectors to power displays for Flight Safety International (Booth # 2310), Meggit Training Solutions (Booth # 1010), Presagis (Booth # 2300) and RSI Visual Systems (Booth # 881).

Five Christie Matrix StIM projectors will be featured in a Flight Safety International (FSI) five-channel, Wide-Angle-Single-Pilot-V (WASP-V) display.  The unique capabilities of the Christie Matrix StIM provide ease of use, the ability to mount the projectors in any orientation, and eliminate the need for consumables, thereby reducing life-cycle costs and increasing the reliability of the system for an environmentally-friendly solution. The WASP-V is a modular and configurable fast jet display system, designed for high-resolution programs and Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) requirements. It will be powered by a VITAL-X image generator (IG).

A Meggit Training Solutions display will be powered by the 3-chip DLP® Christie Matrix HD4 projector.  The Christie projector will beam true, 16:9 high-definition (HD) images from Meggit Training Solutions’ advanced reality simulation software, on a 13.5’x7.5’ screen.  Life-like graphics, infinite destructible terrains and true ballistics will project onto the screen at a powerful 5,000 lumens.  The addition of a Color Purity Filter (CPF) enables superior color saturation, color matching and superior black levels for unsurpassed day and night scene blending, making the Christie Matrix HD4 an ideal simulation projector.

Christie is also lending its visual solutions to Presagis’ booth, where a total of six Christie Matrix projectors will be used for a helicopter simulator and database content for four discrete screens, each measuring 54” by 72”. The helicopter simulator will consist of a 1x2 curved, cylindrical display with a 90.6 Field-Of-View (FOV).  I/ITSEC attendees will be able to fly this fully interactive and realistic cockpit demonstrator that’s outfitted with a two-channel blended display image generator (IG) and two Christie Matrix projectors for true-to-life imagery.

At the center of Presagis’ booth, each of the remaining four Christie Matrix projectors will display on four discrete screens. The Christie projectors will operate in conjunction with a multi-channel visual system that will allow I/ITSEC attendees to visualize marine scenes, cityscapes and other high-fidelity databases.

RSI Visual Systems is also employing Christie projection for its Viper II WAC Window Replacement unit. A single Christie Matrix StIM projector will be configured in a collimated display to show looping scenes of databases, weather and other effects.

Christie’s presence will beam high and above ground on two Christie-sponsored, SIM TV NTSA entrance displays.  These displays will show three 30-second spots, featuring Christie’s latest LED innovation, Christie MicroTiles™, as well as the company’s specialty in providing entire AV-solutions for the military training and simulation industries.  The displays will consist of two Da-Lite screens, each measuring 110” by 82.5” wide; with the Christie LX1500 powering the 30-second spots at 15,000 ANSI lumens in true XGA resolution (1024x768). The Christie LX1500 is the world’s brightest projector in its class and houses an advanced 4-lamp, 3-LCD optical engine, making it the ideal projector for ‘entrance-stopper’ displays.
