Cinéma Pine and Christie at Ciné-Québec Showcase

SAINTE-ADÈLE, Que. – (January 25, 2011)Christie®, a global leader and pioneer in digital cinema, shares the screen with Cinéma Pine at Ciné-Québec ‘Le Rendez-Vous Festif et Éclaté,’ a four-day cinema industry celebration opening today, in Saint-Adèle, Québec. Cinéma Pine, established in 1948, and the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned theater business in Québec, will show private screenings of two new Québec releases, ‘La Vérité’ by Marc Bisaillon and ‘Angle Mort’ by Dominic James, using a Christie DLP Digital Cinema® projector, the world’s most installed brand, renowned for its brightness, reliability and product integrity.

According to Cinéma Pine owner Tommy Fermanian, “Moviegoers in our region now reap the rewards of watching high resolution digital movies. My family built its reputation on presenting high quality images on the screen. It was important to us to work with Christie, which designs and manufactures flawless performance products for both small and large cinemas. We plan to convert all of our remaining theatres with digital apparatus over the next few years.”

Cinéma Pine was the first independent theater in Quebec and second in Canada to use Dolby® Digital surround sound. In 2008, Cinéma Pine realized the business potential and benefits of digital technology and selected Christie to outfit one of eight theatres.

In addition to providing digital cinema solutions to Cinéma Pine, Christie is sponsoring Ciné-Québec, a showcase where Québec cinema industry professionals congregate to learn and share. "We are grateful to have Christie back as a sponsor this year," said Jean Colbert, president, Ciné-Québec. “We look forward to viewing two new films for the first time on a Christie digital projector.”

Christie continues to demonstrate its commitment to converting independent theatres to digital in the most cost-effective way. “We want to collaborate with small independent theater owners like Cinéma Pine to demonstrate the affordability of upgrading to the world’s most preferred, and proven, line of digital projectors,” explains Dave Muscat, senior director of sales, Christie Digital Systems Canada, Inc.

“Independent theatres serve an important niche in the cinema marketplace. They cater to local audiences and provide a connection to their communities. By working closely with certified Christie dealers who sell, install and service the independent theatres, Christie can offer a broader range of support that includes turnkey operations and the most advanced digital projection solutions.”
