SHOWEAST/Orlando, FL – (October 23, 2006) – Christie, a major provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, will display the Christie P35GPS 35mm film projector at ShowEast 2006. Featuring key technological improvements for a smoother, more efficient operation, the Christie P35GPS is the projector of choice for exhibitors and has been instrumental in bolstering Christie’s commanding lead of the market for 35mm film projection. In India, Korea, Japan, Latin America, Mexico and Thailand, Christie dominates the 35mm film projection market and continues to be a pioneering force in North America as well as emerging markets such as Greece, Israel and Russia.
Among the significant improvements to the Christie P35GPS projector is a completely redesigned changeover douser – also available as a retrofit for P35 models installed in theatres today – as well as new bearing assemblies that ensure durability and longer life. Christie has also developed major changes to the sound head guide rollers and arms to minimize vibration and increase reliability and quality of the audio signal. As well, the company is offering new optional one-piece hard Teflon® impregnated Delrin® shoes for gentler handling of the film and greater wear resistance. Christie will also be changing to a high performance round tooth belt profile that will provide substantially smoother drive – giving the belts, pulleys and other components longer life, less vibration and quieter operation in addition to further minimizing maintenance requirements.
Craig Sholder, vice president of Entertainment Solutions for Christie, U.S.A., noted that Christie dominates major global hotspots for digital and for 35mm film systems in Asia and the Americas. “While our momentum continues on the digital front, we also recognize the need to continue to provide the best-in-class solutions for film projection as well. We have a solid focus on R&D that continues to yield significant technological enhancements to 35mm film projection technology,” he said. “Our success worldwide reflects upon the recognition by exhibitors that we are committed to investing in experienced staff and engineers that are focused on raising the standards for film projection technology. We back our film products with service and support that’s considered the best in the industry.”
Sholder added: “Over a period spanning more than three quarters of a century, Christie has introduced products that have revolutionized the movie-going experience. Projection technology is our history, our passion and our future, and one which will continue to drive us for many years to come.”
