SEOUL, Korea – (August 13, 2012) – Christie® is proud to be the visual display partner of the SM ART Exhibition, the entertainment IT exhibition to experience various K-pop contents combined with SM Entertainment’s premium contents & cutting edge information technologies. Organized by SM Entertainment, one of Korea’s largest entertainment companies, the 10-day exhibition will wow fans of K-pop artists with entertainment content visualized through Christie’s brilliant projection technology and other state-of-the-art information technologies. The K-pop artists featured in the exhibition are internationally acclaimed BoA, Tohoshinki, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee and other SM Town artists.
The welcome stage of the exhibition greets visitors at its entrance with superb projection using four Christie Roadie HD30K projectors. Upon entering the hall, visitors are surrounded by larger-than-life-images of their idols performing in virtual space on Fantasy Tree – a 13-meter high cylindrical wall built in the middle of the hall. Four Christie Roadster S+20K projectors bring the engaging experience forward.
To let visitors have a peek into the SM artists’ lives, two Christie HD10K-M projectors provide rear projection of their photographs onto a photo cylinder and the highlight of the exhibition is a live performance by SHINee on a 3D panorama theater. The 40-meter wide and 4.5-meter high curved screen of the theater uses eight Christie CP2220 digital cinema projectors. Two Christie HD10K-M projectors are used for projection mapping in a Hyundai Motors media show with another Roadster HD18K projector used for the rear projection of the same show.
“As a leading visual display solutions provider, Christie prides itself with its many firsts created in the visual projection world. Today we are proud to partner with SM Entertainment to bring the first interactive entertainment exhibition in the world,” commented Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “Christie has influenced millions of visitors at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea with strong messages of ocean conservation through our powerful projection technology. The SM ART exhibition is another strong testament of our capability to engage the people using our wide array of projectors.”
“Tapping on the fame of our artists, the SM ART Exhibition is the first-of-its-kind for the fans to interact with their idols in the most ‘intimate’ ways imaginable,” said Hong, Gyoung-Tae, designer, Design Silverfish. “Thanks to Christie’s technology, we are able to bring our artists to virtual life.”
