BRISBANE, Australia – (August 20, 2012) – Christie®, a global leader in digital cinema projection, is proud to showcase Christie Duo™, its latest cinema technology, at the Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC) August 20-23, following its successful debut at Hoyts Blacktown.
Christie Duo™ is an integration kit that features the choice of three configurations that perfectly align every pixel on the screen for optimal 2D and 3D presentations. Coupled with automated features that easily calibrate, align and optimize the images from both Christie® Solaria® Series 2K or 4K digital cinema projectors, Christie Duo delivers a completely seamless, premium movie experience for the world’s largest screens. When combined with world-leading 3D systems, exhibitors can achieve 3D image brightness levels up to twice as high as what can be achieved using the current large-format market leader — at a significant overall cost saving.
The Christie Duo™ integration kit can be purchased with either 2K or 4K Christie Solaria™ Series digital cinema projectors or as a standalone integration kit for Christie customers who already have Christie projectors — the world’s best-selling DCI-compliant digital cinema projectors with more than 33,000 shipped and installed to date.
Gold Sponsor for Third Consecutive Year
At the AIMC, Christie is also demonstrating Christie CP2220 projectors at the Jupiters Theaters through its Australian partner, Edge Digital Technology. The Christie CP2220 is the brightest, highest performance digital cinema projector in its class, with the lowest total cost of ownership. Built on proven and reliable 1.2" 2K DMD DLP Cinema® technology, the Christie CP2220 features greater than 2100:1 contrast ratio while displaying up to 35.2 trillion colors.
“This is the third year Christie is participating as a Gold Sponsor in the AIMC. By tapping on its extensive coverage of the Australian movie industry, we aim to demonstrate once again our continuing commitment to the Australian market by introducing more innovative cinema products,” said Jonathan Lim, general manager, Christie Singapore.
“Building on our rich history of delivering industry-first solutions for exhibitors, Christie has responded to the global market demand for a solution that delivers a cost-effective and financially accessible premium movie experience, one that is affordable today and tomorrow,” said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “The advent of Christie Duo™ will change the way exhibitors show movies on big screens. Moving forward, Christie is also developing solutions to help exhibitors to adopt the high frame rate (HFR) technology that Hollywood filmmakers, directors and producers are applying to their upcoming movies, which will hit theaters beginning in December 2012.”
Christie’s latest cinema technology lineup also includes Christie Solaria® One, a high-value projection system that’s perfect for screens up to 9.1 meters wide; Christie Integrated Media Block (IMB), which operates within the projector to create a secure connection that can manage the high bandwidth required for HFR and 4K content without compromising image quality; and Christie SKA-3D™, an audio and video processor that connects digital cinema projectors to the widest possible range of 2D and 3D alternative-content feeds.
