CANADA FESTIVAL/SEOUL – (July 1, 2013) – Christie® is proud to be the official projection sponsor of Canada Festival and its associated Banff Mountain Film Festival at Cheonggye Square in Seoul.
The June 29 opening ceremony featured promotional videos of Seoul as a cultural and trade hub and the Canadian province of Alberta’s grandeur and resources. Shown on a 600-foot screen, the film also included Ulju County where the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be held in August.
From June 29-30, the Christie Roadie HD+30K screened short films and documentaries for the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Seoul. With themes as varied as adventure, extreme sports and nature, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brought the audience closer to Canada.
David Chatterson, Canada's Ambassador to Korea, said, “January 14, 2013 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and Korea. Over the past 50 years, our nations have developed a deep and lasting friendship founded on shared values and interests, robust trade and commerce, and growing people-to-people ties. Thanks to our corporate sponsors and partners like Christie, the Embassy of Canada to Korea reaches out to the citizens of Seoul with a range of interactive activities to celebrate this special year.”
“Christie is a world leader in digital projection technology with more than 85 years of presence globally. Though we only established our full-fledged operations in Korea in 2006, we have built a strong rapport with the local user community. The Koreans remember us fondly for the magnificent projection on Big O water screen and many other pavilions at the Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, Cheonggyecheon Digital Garden, Festival O Gwangju 2012, S.M. Art Exhibition 2012 and many more. Taking the top market share in the local cinema projection market, Christie is also contributing to the Koreans’ lifestyle as they sit back and relax in cinemas deploying our top-notch digital cinema projectors,” commented Henry Khang, general manager, Christie Korea.
“With our roots originating from Canada, we are glad to be part of the Canada Festival. We believe in giving the best of our professional products and services. When it comes to Canada Festival, we contribute our projectors for the opening ceremony and the screening of Banff Mountain Festival World Tour. We hope the Korean community appreciates Canadian culture better with the superb brightness and clarity brought forth by our projectors,” said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific.
