Christie To Complete Shenzhen’s Largest Cinema

Christie Film Projectors to be used at Golden Harvest’s First Cineplex

CHINA – (September 20, 2004) – Christie, first in DLP Cinema™ projection, is proud to announce seven Christie P35GPSL-AT 35mm gearless film projectors will be installed in Golden Harvest Entertainment Limited’s (GH) first Cineplex located in City Crossing’s MIXc Mall in Shenzhen, China. Valued at more than US$5.13-million, the GH Shenzhen will be the company’s largest investment in China and the biggest cinema in Shenzhen.

Expected to be in operation by end of 2004, the initial phase of the GH Shenzhen Theatre will mark the completion of seven cinemas and a total of 1,046 seats. All cinemas will be equipped with a Christie P35GPSL-AT film projector which features award-winning sealed Ultramittent™, automatic lens and aperture changers. Fitted with the Xenolite™ console and Autowind™ platters, these projectors offer smooth, quiet and reliable operation with exceptionally steady picture on the screen to provide the optimal visual quality.

Located in the largest indoor shopping mall in Shenzhen and the best retail center in South China, the wholly owned GH Shenzhen Cineplex will serve as Golden Harvest’s first world-class flagship showcase in China with full-stadium seating and large screens. The largest cinema consists of 280 seats while the Gold Class Auditorium is a 30-seat VIP cinema with reclining seats and personalized in-theatre food and beverage services. Two of the seven halls will be equipped with a digital cinema projector each and all cinemas will also be embarking onto the electronic platform to tap into the potential of on-screen advertising. The second phase of the GH Shenzhen will see the completion of another five halls by late 2005 or early 2006.

“We’ve decided to work with Christie on this project as we feel that its pricing structure is very competitive and it offers a more professional level of service as compared to the other providers in the market. In addition, we also feel that Christie’s range of products are generally far more superior in terms of quality,” said Shayne Trembath, Senior Project Manager, Golden Harvest Entertainment Ltd.

"We’re glad that Golden Harvest, one of the most established names in the Asian cinema industry, has selected Christie’s projectors for its first cinema in Shenzhen. With more than 75 years of experience in the cinema business, we’re proud to say that we’re the only company with solid knowledge in both the film and digital arena,” says Christie Lim, regional sales manager, Christie. “GH Shenzhen continues to join our numerous film installations in the region and illustrates the excellent visual quality of our Christie 35mm film projectors. We look forward to working with the rest of the cinema owners in Asia to contribute to the region’s digital and film cinema developments.”
