CYPRESS, CA – (July 8, 2004) – Christie Digital Systems, Inc., a leading provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, today announced the formation of the Christie Immersive Solutions Group to provide fully integrated, best-in-class visual solutions for immersive environments in the Virtual Reality (VR) and simulation markets. Comprised of the most experienced specialists from across the visualization and simulation industries, the group will deliver purpose-built, visualization environments to meet each customer’s unique requirements. To ensure complete customer satisfaction, all solutions will be backed by Christie’s industry-leading service and support.
Leading the group as vice president is David Fluegeman who brings a keen understanding for developing and working with VAR channels and building strategic relationships. Prior to joining Christie, Mr. Fluegeman held senior management roles at Evans & Sutherland, a world leader in developing 3-D visual systems for simulation and training markets. He has worked with customers such as Airbus, Boeing, CAE, DaimlerChrysler, Lockheed-Martin, Thales and Volkswagen-Audi. He also held key roles for major IT innovators such as US Robotics and Proxima.
Working with Mr. Fluegeman will be Scott Richardson, director, immersive product management. Mr. Richardson will help to identify and develop strategic relationships, as well as the necessary deliverables to provide concept-leading technologies for the group. Mr. Richardson comes to Christie from Silicon Graphics, Inc., where he was corporate solutions manager for its Professional Services Visualization Solutions Portfolio. His expertise encompasses both technical knowledge of visualization hardware as well as insight into the sales, delivery and support processes.
A Powerhouse Support Team Spanning Every Discipline
Leading the Engineering and Operations Group that will support the sales team is Dave Beresford who joins Christie as senior director of application development. He comes to Christie from PrinterOn Corp., were he headed up the research and development division. In this role, he was responsible for the design, architecture and implementation of mobile printing services, including server- and client-based technologies that enabled wireless and wired printing over the Internet from desktops and handheld devices. Among his customers were Hilton, Doubletree and many other hotel brands that support high speed Internet.
Mr. Beresford will utilize his extensive experience in project management and application development to set the foundation for the group’s success. He will also provide the software leadership that will help Christie differentiate its new services in an emerging market. He will be assisted by a diverse and experienced team of specialists from some of the visualization and simulation industries most innovative technology leaders.
