LAS VEGAS, NV April 3rd, 2003 National Association of Broadcasters – StereoGraphics and Christie Digital Systems are teaming up at NAB 2003 for an exclusive pre-release screening of the new immersive 3D adventure, Ghosts of the Abyss. StereoGraphics worked with Academy Award® winning director and master storyteller James Cameron and Walt Disney pictures to arrange the screening. The film will be featured in Christie’s booth #SL530 during NAB, April 7-10, 2003. The movie, scheduled for release on April 11th, 2003, journeys back to the site of James Cameron’s greatest inspiration – the legendary wreck of the Titanic.
Christie and StereoGraphics are using the Christie 3D Cinema Server to show excerpts from Ghosts of the Abyss. The Server is comprised of a Sun Microsystems workstation and graphical user interface developed by StereoGraphics. It is the world’s first stereoscopic server designed for 3D content display and offers high quality and cost-effective 3D digital projection. It perfects digital 3D projection and makes it a practical product. It is ideal for 3D entertainment owners and operators because it is so easy to operate and requires little maintenance, making the cost effectiveness obvious.
The server is the keystone of a stereoscopic projection solution when used in conjunction with Christie’s Mirage line of three-chip DLP™ stereoscopic projectors. The 3D Cinema Server and a single Christie Mirage projector can fill an auditorium with thrilling 3D movie content. Prior projection systems required two projectors to produce the desired result.
The 3D Cinema Server and a Mirage projector can show 3D content with polarizing glasses using the industry-standard StereoGraphics Projection ZScreen® for large audiences. The image quality of this approach matches that of the current system used in theme parks all over the world. StereoGraphics’ CrystalEyes® can also be used in conjunction with the StereoGraphics theater emitter for the ultimate quality for smaller audiences demanding perfection.
Christie’s Mirage Series is the world’s first stereoscopic DLP™ projection system and offers brightness levels from 2,000 to 10,000 ANSI lumens in either XGA or SXGA resolution. Mirage projectors are equipped for active or passive stereo offering the highest quality digital images in 3D.
StereoGraphics remains the world's leading supplier of the Stereo3D visualization industry that it created 20 years ago. Stereo3D brings separate perspective views to each eye, simulating real life 3D viewing. StereoGraphics' CrystalEyes shuttering eyewear and Monitor ZScreen products are the industry leading stereo viewing products for professionals. The SynthaGram Monitor, with its ultra bright image and wide viewing angles, is now setting the new standard for Glasses-Free 3D.
