Chase Park Plaza Cinemas upgrade to digital with Christie
There’s a brand new theater in St. Louis, Missouri that is the envy of small, independent theaters everywhere. The Chase Park Plaza Cinemas, with five intimate auditoriums featuring all-digital sound systems and state-of-the-art projection, offer luxury stadium seating and trompe I’oeil masterpieces in each auditorium. Further enhancing the ‘Hollywood studio screening rooms of the past’ vibe is a local organist who plays an old-school electronic organ before shows on the weekends. Best of all, the facility is privately operated and not part of a chain.
Harman Moseley, owner of the Chase Park Plaza Cinemas, is proud that the venue has become a place where adults go to see the movies. “We were one of the first here to have a liquor license at a movie theater. Plus, people like one-stop shopping. They like food and entertainment. There are great restaurants around the Chase, so this has worked out great. It has far exceeded my expectations,” he said.
Moseley is most excited at the new digital equipment that outfits his theaters. “We’ve entered the digital age because if you want to be in the business 10 years from now, you’re going to have to be digital. With digital, we’ll be able to offer alternative content on the slow days. There’s going to be a whole new world of events that are one-night-only, with live concerts or lectures, it can be anything,” he relayed.
