A “win/win/win” installation
Texas Tech University, Rawls College of Business wanted to update its facility to reflect the stature and reputation of the school. In their largest classroom, which seats up to 247 students, the school wanted a huge digital media wall that instructors could use to display lecture materials.
As a result, Rawls College commissioned an impressive Christie® MicroTiles® digital display wall comprising 108 Christie MicroTiles suspended on custom wall brackets fabricated by Custom Display Solutions (CDS). The schedule for installation was aggressive. Work began in June 2011 and was completed in October 2011.
Representatives from Texas Tech University had seen Christie MicroTiles at a trade show and contacted Christie directly to get work on the classroom started. Richard Brink, associate principle and manager of audiovisual of Datacom Design Group consulted with the university on the classroom’s design. Although Brink had never worked with Christie MicroTiles before, he immediately recognized their potential to give the university the large, statement display they wanted. Jon Litt, of Whitlock, joined the project team as the installation integrator.
