MELBOURNE, Australia – Christie® is pleased to announce that Palace Cinemas has deployed its latest CineLife+™ Series RGBH cinema projector, marking a further step in advancing premium cinema presentation through hybrid laser illumination technology.
As one of Australia’s leading cinema chains, Palace Cinemas is known for its curated selection of international and independent films, alongside high-quality amenities that elevate the moviegoing experience. The Christie CP4420m-RGBH has been installed at Palace Cinemas Pentridge in Melbourne, a 15-screen multiplex located in the historic area of Coburg, Victoria. It is fitted in the complex’s largest auditorium, which offers a 12-meter-wide (39-foot) silver screen, Dolby Atmos surround sound, and 220 luxury recliner seats. The projector is housed in a discreet ceiling enclosure to preserve the venue’s architectural integrity. This marks the first deployment of Christie’s RGBH cinema projector in Australasia.
Selecting Christie’s RGBH projector builds on Palace Cinemas’ existing investment in Christie cinema technologies across its circuit, including RGB pure laser projection with Real|Laser™ illumination and RBe projectors powered by Phazer™ technology. The project was delivered by HOYTS Cinema Technology Group (HOYTS CTG), which brings extensive experience in cinema technology deployment and support.
“Palace Cinemas is focused on providing state-of-the-art cinema experiences,” said Benjamin Zeccola, CEO of Palace Cinemas. “And we are proud to be the first exhibitor in Australasia to deploy Christie’s RGBH technology. This upgrade enhances our flagship auditorium with outstanding image performance, and it is even more energy-efficient to boot!”
Adam Wrightson, managing director of HOYTS CTG, added, “Christie’s RGBH projector delivered outstanding image quality and was straightforward for our team to integrate at Palace Pentridge. The installation process was smooth, and the overall feedback on the product was very positive. This project reflects the strong collaboration between Palace Cinemas, HOYTS CTG and Christie in delivering a high-quality cinema experience.”
Han Kim, vice president of Sales for Asia Pacific at Christie, commented, “We are committed to listening closely to the market and developing solutions that directly address customer needs. Our RGBH technology is a strong example of this approach, reflecting requirements expressed by exhibitors for greater efficiency, versatility and performance. It also delivers clear advantages in energy efficiency and operating costs. We are pleased to see our latest technology supporting flagship auditorium experiences at Palace Pentridge.”
Christie’s RGBH Series cinema projectors feature the latest 0.98-inch 4K SST DMD, enabling vibrant image reproduction in a compact, quiet and flexible form factor. Designed as a cost-effective solution for screens up to 19 meters (62 feet) wide, the CP4420m-RGBH delivers striking visuals while supporting best-in-class operational efficiency at 14.8 lumens per watt. Additionally, the CP4420m-RGBH operates at less than 47 dBA, making it exceptionally quiet and well suited for post-production facilities, premium screening rooms and boothless installations where low noise levels and space efficiency are essential.
