MELBOURNE, Australia – Christie® is proud to continue its collaboration with the Independent Cinemas Australia (ICA), supporting its annual conference as the exclusive projection partner under the official branding ICA Conference: Projected by Christie.
ICA Conference: Projected by Christie will take place from May 13–15 at Palace Pentridge Cinemas, a 15‑screen multiplex thoughtfully redeveloped from the historic Coburg prison in northern Melbourne. In its second year of a three‑year sponsorship commitment, Christie will deploy the new CP4420m‑RGBH cinema projector at the conference, bringing its latest hybrid laser illumination technology to ICA members and delegates. The projector will run all conference content on a 12‑metre‑wide (39-foot-wide) silver screen throughout the three‑day event.
This year’s ICA Conference will also mark the official debut of Christie’s RGBH hybrid illumination technology in Australia. Designed to balance premium image performance with energy efficiency and long‑term sustainability, RGBH projectors extend Christie’s CineLife+™ Series portfolio to meet the practical needs of every cinema screen.
Christie’s trusted partner, Hoyts Cinema Technology Group, will once again serve as the event service provider, overseeing the installation and operation of the CP4420m‑RGBH projector ahead of and during the conference to ensure seamless delivery throughout the program.
“The ICA Conference is about equipping independent cinema operators with knowledge, perspective, and practical solutions,” said Nick Hayes, Chief Executive Officer of ICA. “Christie’s continued support as projection sponsor, and the opportunity for our members to experience its new RGBH cinema projector firsthand, adds real value to the conference and to the broader independent cinema community.”
Han Kim, vice president of Sales, APAC, Christie, commented, “As a long‑standing supporter of the ICA, we’re proud to continue our partnership and to bring new cinema technology directly to the independent cinema community. ICA Conference provides an important platform to connect with exhibitors, listen to their needs, and demonstrate solutions designed specifically for their screens.”
Christie technology highlights and conference participation
Don Shaw, executive director of Cinema Sales, Americas, Christie, will be a featured speaker on May 13. His presentation will focus on Christie’s RGBH projectors, including their technologies and capabilities, and on how this new projector range offers exhibitors and post-production facilities greater flexibility in choosing the right illumination for small- to medium-sized screens. Additionally, Shaw will join cinema industry leaders for a panel discussion titled “Digital Mark II. What’s different this time: Digital Projection Replacement and Infrastructure,” moderated by Lewis Thorne, former ICA Board Member and Circuit Operations Manager at Sun Theatre.
Featuring the latest 0.98” 4K SST DMD with CineLife+ electronics, and Phazer™ illumination, Christie’s new RGBH projectors provide a compact and cost‑effective option for delivering bright, bold visuals on screens up to 19 meters (63 feet) wide. Available in three brightness options up to 20,000 lumens, the projectors are compatible with existing legacy lenses and accessories from lamp‑based systems, helping reduce upgrade costs for exhibitors transitioning from lamp to laser.
As part of its sponsorship, Christie is extending two full conference passes to ICA members from the Wangaratta Cinema Centre, a four-screen cinema complex situated in the city of Wangaratta, located in northeastern Victoria.
