LED video wall celebrates Bee Gees' music career

May 25, 2021

BRISBANE, Australia – A Christie® LED video wall installed along a unique walkway in Redcliffe, Queensland is delivering stunning visuals that celebrate the illustrious music career of the Bee Gees – one of the world’s most popular music groups in the mid- to late 1970s.

The giant video screen, which boasts a viewing area of 5.3 square meters (57 square feet), is made up of Christie Apex Series LED tiles with a pixel pitch of 2.5mm. It is one of the centerpieces of Bee Gees Way, a 70-meter (230 foot) alley named after the Gibb brothers – Barry, Robin, and Maurice – that pays tribute to their legendary music career spanning over four decades and selling over 200 million albums. The Gibb family migrated from Manchester, England to Redcliffe in Queensland, Australia in the late 1950s.

Arranged in a five-by-four array and fitted in a custom-built weatherproof enclosure for long-term durability, the Apex Series LED video wall is used for the playback of exclusive interviews with Barry Gibb – the group’s sole surviving member – and never before seen home movie footage, along with some of Bee Gees’ greatest hits such as “Stayin’ Alive”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, and “Night Fever”.

The Apex Series LED wall brilliantly complements other memorable Bee Gees monuments exhibited along the walkway, which was opened in two stages in 2013 and 2015. They include more than 60 captioned photos and 13 album covers spanning the group’s career, a huge 70-meter (230 foot) mural featuring artwork of the Gibb brothers, as well as life-sized statues of the musical legends from their “One Night Only” album era. Standing at two meters (6.5 feet) tall, it commemorates the trio when they were at the peak of their musical success.

“We are delighted that the Moreton Bay Regional Council has selected Christie’s high-performance and dependable LED video wall to highlight the incredible musical achievements of the Bee Gees throughout their career that spans more than 40 years,” said Wayne Clem, business development manager for Australia and New Zealand, Enterprise, Christie. “The Apex Series is perfect for displaying the most memorable moments of the Bee Gees captured on video. It delivers 4K@60Hz resolution, HDR10 compatibility, built-in Clearview technology, and low-brightness enhancements for incredible visual experiences.”
