What’s your name and title?
Lisa Delgado, sales and operations manager, Cinema
How long have you been with Christie?
30 years
How did you get your start with Christie, and what was your first role?
I started at Christie temporarily and quickly moved to a permanent role in customer service. The company was expanding so fast and was branching out internationally with new offices in Singapore and Europe.
The growth made me think this was a place to start a new career.
What, in your opinion, makes the cinema industry unique?
It’s the passion the people have for this industry that makes it exceptional.
You were with Christie during the transition from film to digital. Do you have any stories to share about this exciting time?
Probably too many! What we have today is not what we started out with. Seeing that first digital projector hanging weirdly off a film console, next to a 35mm projector that looked sleek and efficient, made me wonder what in the world this thing was going to become. As we know, the technology (and projector design!) improved rapidly and the industry’s adoption of digital cinema projectors happened pretty quickly.
I remember overnight shipping lamps for our Series 1 digital cinema projectors to exhibitors in time to show one of the first digital presentations of a film in the U.S. – it was a lot of work ‘behind the scenes’ during this time.
What has been your proudest (or most memorable!) moment at Christie?
It’s hard to pick just one. I think in general being able to end the day with a sense of accomplishment overall is one of the best things about being with Christie. Whether it’s helping someone internally or externally or finding solutions for continuous improvement, these things motivate me each day.
What is cinema to you?
It’s a collaboration of talent, like seeing a great movie in the best format with a Christie projection system showcasing it.
What do you like to watch, and what’s your favorite film?
I enjoy most genres except horror. I don’t have any favorite movies, but I am partial to good literary adaptations.
