Two University of Waterloo professors received an unrestricted grant to help build the metaverse over the next decade. Daniel Vogel and Jian Zhao, both professors in the school of computer science, will help expand the capabilities of the metaverse as part of a team funded by Meta, Facebook’s parent company.
Research will study the relationship and interactions between people and computer, as well as venture beyond virtual reality goggles using projection – also known as special augmented reality. Several Christie® DWU630-GS 1DLP® projectors will be used with cameras and software to explore the possibilities.
