SYDNEY, Australia – Christie® is pleased to announce that EDGE Content & Technology, one of Australia’s leading cinema technology integrators, has acquired 52 units of Christie’s next-generation cinema projectors featuring Christie RealLaser™ illumination for deployment into Event Cinemas’ Gold Class theatres.
EDGE Content & Technology acquires 52 Christie RealLaser™ cinema projectors
Comprising the CP4325-RGB cinema projectors, these state-of-the-art systems deliver astounding visuals in 4K resolution, and offer greatly improved color and contrast for audiences, as well as operational efficiencies for cinema owners. This investment by EDGE Content & Technology is the largest commitment to Christie cinema projectors equipped with RealLaser™ illumination technology in Australia to date.
“We have been working with Christie cinema technology for more than 10 years, and were amongst the first cinema integrators in the world to be fully qualified on the Christie CP4325-RGB, which marks a breakthrough in next generation RGB pure laser projection technology,” said Anthos Simon, General Manager, EDGE Content & Technology. “We are pleased to work with technology that not only elevates the cinema experience, but also offers practical and commercial benefits by replacing lamp-based systems with RGB pure laser illumination that provides unmatched long-term stability and reliability.”
Says Dale Miller, Executive Vice President, Cinema, Christie, “Christie is strongly committed to developing technologies that add real value for our customers, not just technology for technology’s sake. With Christie RealLaser™, the industry finally has the world’s first laser illumination technology, created by Christie, which qualifies as a true replacement for lamp-based illumination. We would like to thank EDGE for choosing our RGB pure laser and the superior cinema experience that it offers over other laser hybrid technologies.”
Dr. Don Shaw, Senior Director, Asia Sales, Cinema, Christie, added, “We’re delighted that EDGE recognizes the many benefits offered by the Christie CP4325-RGB, the first affordable RGB pure laser system developed for mainstream 4K cinema exhibition. Christie is fully committed to providing superior products and technical support to EDGE Content & Technology in their rollout of next generation RGB pure laser projectors in the Australia marketplace, and we look forward to stronger collaboration moving forward.”
Christie’s RealLaser™ family of cinema projectors, which includes the CP4330-RGB, CP4325-RGB, CP2320-RGB, CP2315-RGB, and the upcoming CP2309-RGB, offers all the advantages of RGB pure laser in a compact “all-in-one” form. This eliminates the need for sub-ambient external cooling, which further reduces operational cost. Christie RealLaser™ consistently delivers excellent image quality and brightness above DCI standards throughout the projector’s natural life. All this while providing 30,000-plus hours of operation and without lamp changes.
Since their official launch, Christie’s pure laser CP4325-RGB, CP2315-RGB and CP2320-RGB projectors, based on the Christie RealLaser™ illumination platform, have been embraced by exhibitors around the world as the best replacements for lamp-based projection systems and new installations. In Asia, these include China’s Wanda Cinema Line, Taiwan’s Showtime Cinemas, Cinemark Cinema and Taiwan Innovation & Development Corporation, Australia’s HOYTS Cinemas, Thailand’s Major Cineplex, and the Philippines’ SM Cinema.
