WOKINGHAM, England – Christie is pleased to continue its support of the British Film Institute for its 70th edition of the BFI London Film Festival, October 7 to 18. A Christie CP4455-RGB pure laser cinema projector will light up premieres and galas in the 2,700-seat Royal Festival Hall.
This year, the festival showcases an impressive nine world, ten international and 14 European premieres.
Reflecting on his many experiences with Christie laser projection, Dominic Simmons, head of cinema technology at the BFI, said, "We’re delighted to be partnering with Christie for the 6th year in a row. Every presentation has been fantastic. Each time Christie has given us incremental improvements in picture quality. We know that all the Gala films will really pop.”
“Installing the projector has become a very smooth operation and the onboard calibration and blending tools ensure that we can get every film looking its best,” he continued. “This is vital not only because we have over 2000 pairs of eyes at each screening, but often filmmaking teams, too. There's plenty to keep the BFI technical team on its toes at the LFF, but we don’t have to worry about achieving high-quality presentation at Royal Festival Hall."
The Christie CP4455-RGB pure laser cinema projector redefines cinematic experiences in large-format theatres, with CineLife+™ electronics and RealLaser™ illumination technology that exceeds projection standards while delivering best-in-class operational efficiency. Directors premiering their films can impress audiences with incredibly detailed and vibrant 4K images.
The London Film Festival was conceived at a dinner party held in 1953 by the renowned Sunday Times film critic Dilys Powell, and it officially opened in 1957, with the black and white film, “Throne of Blood.” Simon Stone’s “Elsinor” opened this year’s festival, and Jesse Eisenberg’s “The Debut” will close it.
