CYPRESS, CA – For over a decade the Roadie line of Christie® projectors has been the de facto product rental stagers turned to thanks to its renowned ruggedness, dependability, and brilliant, colorful images no matter the throw distance or setup configuration.
Now, rental stagers can enjoy the Roadie 4K40-RGB laser version of the iconic product line – with an exceptionally wide color gamut and true-to-life visuals all in a familiar form factor that only Christie RGB laser and TruLife™ electronics can deliver. Similar to the Christie D4K40-RGB, the Roadie doesn’t need external chillers, remote laser racks, or special pedestals because everything is incorporated into a single, all-in-one chassis. With its strengthened frame, this rigging-ready projector is built for a life on the road. Rental stagers also will appreciate the Roadie’s omnidirectional capabilities as well as its compatibility with most Christie Boxer lenses for greater cost savings and flexibility.
Like its D4K40 older brother, the Roadie 4K40-RGB only requires single-phase 220V power, and produces greater than 95 percent of the Rec. 2020 color space for the most robust, lifelike images. Capable of delivering over 30,000 hours of operation to 80 percent brightness, and 5000:1 contrast ratio, the Roadie 4K40-RGB has Christie’s patented sealed optical path, which, for most installations, means over eight years of uncompromised, virtually maintenance-free operation. At 298 pounds (135 kilograms), it is significantly lighter than its RGB pure laser competitors are.
“By introducing the Roadie 4K40-RGB laser projector, Christie has once again made things easier for rental stagers who work hard to present the best show possible,” said Mike Garrido, senior product manager, Christie. “They’ll find its light, compact form factor and omnidirectional capabilities easy to maneuver into place for the show and to take down after the show, saving them both time and money. With its 12G-SDI, DisplayPort, Christie Terra SDVoE input card, and more, connecting numerous sources is easy. And with the Christie Link fiber distribution system, customers can take a 4K 4:4:4 120 hertz signal up to 2.5 miles (four kilometers).”
By combining the Roadie 4K40-RGB with both Christie Mystique – Christie’s automated camera-based alignment software solution – and Christie Guardian, which provides invisible, real-time automatic blended-image correction even when content is playing, the days of lengthy alignment times are gone.
As Ian Bottiglieri, Director of Project Management, Image Engineering, said of the Vegas Golden Knights installation, “Mystique was great because it took about four to five hours to get Mystique set up and running for the first time. After that, we didn’t even really need to think about our alignment because we just needed to block out a 15-minute time period to be able to run the Mystique system and everything would be realigned and perfectly warped and blended. That definitely took a lot of angst and anxiousness out of the equation because the alignment wasn’t even a concern because of the Mystique system.”

When it comes to 3D visualization projection technology, the Christie Mirage Series is legendary and that bar rises with the new Mirage 4K40-RGB pure laser projector that – with greater than 95 percent of the Rec. 2020 color space – sets the standard for the most immersive 3D visualizations imaginable. The all-in-one projector delivers the most detailed images, built-in warping and blending, near field communication monitoring and an at-a-glance preview screen.
The Mirage is now shipping and the Roadie ships at the end of June 2019.
