MILWAUKEE, Wis.—CES Plus and Christie® are pleased to announce that Christie 4K RGB pure laser projection will be installed in auditoriums across Marcus Theatres. The technology will enhance 20 UltraScreen and five SuperScreen DLX® premium large‑format (PLF) auditoriums to combine giant screens with immersive sound and premium amenities.
Marcus Theatres is the fourth-largest theatre circuit in the U.S., and it has one of the most recognized premium-large-format (PLF) experiences in the industry with its UltraScreen and SuperScreen DLX auditoriums.
Under the partnership, CES Plus will serve as the technology partner responsible for project design, equipment procurement, installation, calibration, and ongoing remote service — replacing aging lamp-based projectors with Christie RGB pure laser cinema systems for superior energy efficiency and on-screen image quality.
“At Marcus Theatres, our UltraScreen and SuperScreen DLX auditoriums have always been about offering our customers an experience that’s clearly differentiated from standard cinema presentations, focusing on the on-screen visuals, luxury recliner seating, and sound. With Christie’s advanced RGB pure laser projectors using VDR technology, and CES Plus’ technical expertise, the moviegoing experience will be elevated at multiple auditoriums across the circuit,” says Jeff Tomachek, president, Marcus Theatres.
“This project deepens our longstanding relationship with Marcus Theatres, one of the most forward-thinking exhibitors in the country. For more than 40 years, we've dedicated ourselves to bringing best-in-class technology to cinema — and leading a circuit-wide RGB pure laser upgrade of this scale alongside Christie and Marcus Theatres is exactly the kind of project that defines CES Plus,” says Alex Younger, CEO, CES Plus.
The investment also supports long‑term operational requirements, offering stable performance, reliability, and a future‑ready platform for premium cinema environments, with enhanced ROI from more than 50,000 hours of DCI‑specified on‑screen brightness and minimal recalibration. CES Plus will provide turnkey project management and post-installation support to ensure consistent performance across the Marcus Theatres circuit.
“Marcus Theatres will be the first exhibitor to implement a large-scale rollout of Christie VDR™ technology in their PLF auditoriums for ultra‑high‑contrast images, far exceeding industry standards, and including the capability for more than double the typical 3D brightness normally seen in cinemas around the world,” says Dr. Don Shaw, executive director of Cinema, Christie. “By selecting Christie RGB pure laser projectors, Marcus Theatres is investing in a presentation technology that enhances color, contrast, and brightness in ways that audiences can clearly see and appreciate.”
