Designed with the needs of boutique cinemas and post-production houses in mind, Christie Phazer™ illumination technology brings the reliability and uniformity of Xenon illumination to the modern world of laser projection.
This technology update offers an enhanced laser phosphor design, making these projectors ideal for cinemas with small, high-gain screens looking to deliver premium visuals on screens that require 6,000 to 20,000 lumens.
With 2K and 4K options available, Phazer enhanced projectors are our lineup of premium laser phosphor cinema projectors that offer exhibitors even more choice to put the right light on screens up to 63′ (19 m) wide and deliver the moviegoing experiences audiences crave.
We engineered Phazer to excel in specific spaces: Smaller screen cinemas.
Auditoriums featuring screens less than 64′ (20 m) wide often use high-gain screens to reduce the amount of brightness needed to achieve the 14 fL defined by DCI requirements. These high-gain screens accentuate the issues of other illumination types that are minimized with Phazer illumination.
With Phazer illumination technology, we created a highly efficient, DCI-compliant enhanced laser light source that offers improved image performance and alleviates speckle in an economical platform that better fits the needs of auditoriums requiring less than 25,000 lumens.
Let’s take a closer look at the two types of projectors we’ve developed with Phazer illumination technology.
Phazer: enhanced laser cinema projectors
Enhanced red and blue laser phosphor
We designed our RBe projectors for improved image performance on small, high-gain screens, making them an ideal choice for boutique cinemas. Ranging from 6,000 to 11,000 lumens, these 2K projectors improve image performance on high-gain screens with enhanced wavelength diversity.
The phosphor wheel in these projectors scatters light wavelengths coming from the red and blue laser diodes to reduce speckle and deliver the clear, vivid images audiences love to see.
Featuring our CineLife+2K™ electronics platform, exhibitors benefit from quick and easy projector setup thanks to auto-configuration features, a motorized lens mount, and integrated proprietary electronic color convergence (ECC) for perfect lateral color alignment.
A hybrid solution
Our Phazer innovation didn’t stop with our enhanced laser RBe models. The next phase of our innovation was an advanced blend of pure-RGB and laser phosphor that delivers balanced color, contrast, brightness, and efficiency.
The result is an RGB laser-phosphor enhanced hybrid illumination technology that’s optimized for small-to-medium-sized screens and post-production houses.
At the core of Phazer illumination technology are the MPDs: Compact, robust, solid-state laser banks comprised of individual emitters in a matrix specifically tuned for accurate DCI content reproduction. With Enhanced Wavelength Diversity (EWD), each MPD features a special configuration of laser diodes, making Phazer projectors ideal for all screen types, including high-gain silver screens.
Smaller form factor
Thanks to the latest 0.98″ 4K SST DMD, these projectors have a much smaller form factor, making them an ideal fit for boothless applications and easier operation in smaller booths.
Better energy efficiency
Phazer illumination technology offers better operational efficiency than any other cinema projector on the market, ranging from 10 to 14.8 lumens per Watt, making our RBGH models the most energy-efficient projectors available.
Premium isn't just for large format anymore
With Phazer enhanced illumination, a premium experience is now an option for cinemas of every size, delivering the brilliant on-screen visuals that only laser projection delivers.
Powered by CineLife+ electronics, the world's most advanced projection electronics platform, RBe and RGBH models allow exhibitors to deliver clear, vibrant, striking images with 2,000‒5,000:1 contrast and DCI-P3 color.
A greener choice
Projectors with Phazer illumination technology offer better operational efficiency than any other cinema projector on the market, ranging from 10 to 14.8 lumens per Watt.
How does that energy efficiency compare to traditional lamp-based projectors? With Phazer, your projector is four to five times more efficient than lamp-based projection, which can translate into 75 to 80% savings in energy costs per year, resulting in lower total cost of ownership and a lower overall environmental footprint.
The environmental and financial benefits aren’t limited to the energy savings. With 50,000 hours of operational life and a sealed light source for stable, low-maintenance operation, projector downtime is minimized, and you don’t have to worry about lamp replacements. We also designed our new projectors to be fully backward-compatible, so exhibitors using our existing 0.98″ m2K cinema lenses and accessories can save even more when they upgrade.
The next phaze of cinema illumination has arrived
With recent advancements in illumination technology, laser phosphor has come a long way for cinema projection.
With the development of Phazer, we created a technology that enhances and elevates laser phosphor projection to help deliver the cinema experiences audiences and exhibitors expect from Christie®.
As we continue to innovate and build on this foundation, there’s a bright and brilliant future for these projectors. With this lineup of premium laser phosphor projectors, a better small-screen cinema experience is now available to any theatre.
